As a gamer, I get really fed up with the whole Consoles vs. PC war after awhile. I mean, some people prefer one platform, others prefer another. It shouldn't be hard to comprehend. It really shouldn't. In recent years though, it's hard to ignore the decline of consoles. Yeah, that's right. I, a die-hard console gamer for 13 years, just admitted that consoles are on the decline. It's not happening as quickly as the PC gaming community would like you to think, but it's happening, and console companies don't have a ghost of a chance if they don't stand up and do something about it.
Often times, I hear PC gamers boast about how they're inherently better. Uh, no. PCs have their Pros, but consoles do too. For example, if you have $400 to spend on hardware and absolutely nothing else to spend on it, what's better? A console, really. Consoles are appropriate for people with fixed budgets. They're also better for ease of use. Unlike PCs, ALL consoles are developed with video games in mind.
So yes, consoles do have pros that PCs don't. Why are people so biased and ignoring that then? Above all else, I think consoles are suffering from a lack of individualism software-wise. The bottom line is that almost every console game is also available on Steam for a much lower price, and if people can get the same exact thing for a really low price, they're not going to spend $300 on something they can use to play it outside of Steam. In order for console sales to pick back up, they need more exclusives. Exclusive games like Mario are not accessible on Steam, and if console companies want to survive, they can't continue to ignore that.
